School Performances

Our Spotlight Series for Students season 2009-2010 will showcase performances by award-winning dance, music, juggling, puppetry, and storytelling artists from the USA, Colombia, Peru, and South Korea.  School performances happen during the weekday and are generally no longer than an hour and always include a short facilitated dialogue between students and performers. Tickets are $6.50 per student with one free adult chaperone ticket for every 10 students.

Interested in a pre-show and/or post-show workshops for your students?  For an additional cost schools can arrange for pre- and or post-show workshops or a residency with quality FCCA teaching artists who will provide your students with an interactive, hands-on arts learning experiences to prepare them for and/or follow up the performance they see at Flushing Town Hall.

All performances happen at Flushing Town Hall’s renovated 308-seat concert hall/theater in our historic 1864 building.  We are centrally located in Flushing’s historic downtown area at 137-35 Northern Boulevard.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE COMING TO FLUSHING TOWN HALL

  • Students should leave all bags and food items at school
  • Plan to arrive thirty (30) minutes before the performance
  • Buses should drop students off in front of our building (North side of Northern Boulevard)
  • Please wait for an education staff person to check-in with you before exiting your bus
  • Seating is pre-designated and a staff person will direct your group to their seats
  • No lunch facilities available at Flushing Town Hall

 

HOW TO GET TO FLUSHING TOWN HALL

By subway from Main Street Station

Take the 7 train to Main Street station.  Walk north down Main Street to Northern Boulevard.  Cross street and head east.   Flushing Town Hall is the large brick building on the corner of Linden Place.

 

These MTA buses stop at the intersection of Main St. and Northern Blvd:

School Performance: African folktales mixed with the rhythms and sounds of jazz and violin will give students a captivating storytelling experience that will fire their imaginations. Performance length: 1 hour (post show Q&A with performers included). Performance is open to the public. For tickets, call the Education Department at (718) 463-7700 x241. Starts at 10:00 AM.

School Performance: “Delightful, all-ages entertainment.” (Chicago Reader) With amazing dexterity and delightful creativity, Teatro Hugo e Ines transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary with their unique blend of mime, dance and puppetry. Short Stories includes a riot of characters composed of knees, feet, hands, elbows and a handful of props playing out the poetic moments of daily life. Starts at 10:00 AM.
