FAVORITE IMAGES: The Work of Photographer Richard Schwarzchild, taking place in the Main Gallery of Flushing Town Hall from August 10-September 2, 2007, is an exhibition of 29 of the photographer’s favorite color photographs, selected from his vast collection. The show spans almost thirty years of work, much of which was taken abroad. But, whether the photo-graphs are from Thailand, Namibia, Italy or Jones Beach, they display a sense of peace and order, informed by an eye for detail and punctuated by an ironic wit.Richard Schwarzchild has received more than one hundred awards for his photography in the United States, Austria, Croatia, Italy, England and Cuba.
His work has been exhibited in fourteen countries on five continents. The Museum of Modern Art, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, the San Diego Museum of Art, the Hoyt Institute of Fine Art, the Alexandria Museum of Art, the Holter Museum of Art, the National Museum of Canada, The Belgian Federation of Photography, the Welsh Photographic Federation and the London Salon of Photography are among the many institutions that have shown his work.
Nationally, his photographs have been exhibited in 40 states. He has had solo exhibitions in New York, Ohio, Indiana, Maryland, North Carolina, Penn-sylvania, South Carolina, Connecticut and Tennessee.
His images have also been published in the United States and Japan.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 12 noon to 5 pm. Admission is free.
