No Latin recording artist has more street credentials than Joe Bataan, who is considered the originator of New York Latin Soul, which paralleled Latin Boogaloo and anticipated Disco. By merging Latin music with Rhythm and Blues songs in the 1960’s, Latin Soul was officially created. Joe Bataan was a “Fania Records” recording artist along with luminaries Hector La Voe, La Lupe, Willie Colon, and Ruben Blades. Fania records was the Latino equivalent of the African American “Motown Records”. Joe Bataan and his band will play his classic hits “Ordinary Guy”, “La Botella”, “Gypsy Woman” and songs from his new CD.

"Latin soul.. a cha cha backbeat with English lyrics, and a pulsating rhythm that makes your feet come alive." Joe Bataan
