Fri Oct 14th - Tue Dec 31st Exhibition: THE COLLAGE AESTHETIC OF LOUIS ARMSTRONG - In the Cause of Happiness
Did you know that jazz great Louis Armstrong was an avid collage artist? Made for an exhibition at Lincoln Center, the Louis Armstrong Collage Exhibition features reproductions of some of the remarkable collages created by Louis Armstrong affixed to the boxes of his audio tapes, and introduces audiences to this very public man who could turn his irrepressible creativity to arts other than music.
Wed Apr 25th - Mon May 21st Vote and Preserve Historic FLUSHING TOWN HALL
FLUSHING TOWN HALL has been selected to participate in Partners in Preservation, a program from American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation to help educate New Yorkers about the importance of historic sites.
Wed May 16th - Wed May 30th ART AS LANGUAGE, AN EXHIBITION BY JHS 189
The exhibition by JHS 189's 6th, 7th and 8th graders will include artworks such as illuminated manuscripts, animal drawings, calligraphy, story quilts, paintings emphasizing the language of architecture, the folklore of flowers and birds, and much more. Sculptures and paintings for 189's Make A Difference Project will also be on display.

Fri May 18th 4th ANNUAL TAP EXTRAVAGANZA - QUEENS
Hoofers, bring your tap shoes and join the Tap Jam and Shim Sham Finale! Featuring Dormesha Sumbry, Baakari Wilder (lead, Savion Glover's Bring in Da Noise); Keitaro Hosokawa and Masata Nishitani, Savion Glover Company; Ali Bradley; and Ebony and Jeremia Edwards, our "youngest stars." Co-produced by Traci Mann and Al Heyward; with Frank Owens, Music Director; and Michela Marino Lerman, Dance Captain. A co-presentation of Flushing Town Hall and presenter/producer Cobi Narita, Jazz Center of New York Starts at 8:00 PM.
Fri May 25th QUEENS JAZZ ORCHESTRA (Jimmy Heath, Music Director)
Launched in 2008 by Flushing Council to honor Queen's jazz history and support the next generation of jazz artists, this year's concert will showcase female jazz artists on the Queens Jazz Trail: Ella Fitzgerald; Lena Horne; and Billie Holiday. Starts at 8:00 PM.
Sun May 27th THE AARON COPLAND SCHOOL OF MUSIC GUERRILLA ARTS ENSEMBLE
Solo, Chamber & Jazz Performance by ACSM Students & Alums. Guerilla concerts highlight the talented musicians from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College featuring classical and jazz ensembles. These young musicians will provide excellent performances and also engage its audience through their innovative programs and educational conversations. Starts at 2:00 PM.
