New Music Horizons presents classical composer Yui Kitamura and jazz composer Mark Wade in concert. Kitamura is known for her genre-defying musical style while Wade has received international acclaim as a player and composer in such publications as Downbeat Magazine, Jazz In Europe, and several others. Each composer will present a set of their original works with an informal Q&A with the composers to follow.

Yui Kitamura’s works have been performed at such venues as New York’s Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Berlin’s Akademie der Künste. Her music was nominated for a 2011 Hollywood Music in Media Award in the classical/orchestral genre.

Mark Wade was voted one of the top bassists four of the last five years by the prestigious DownBeat Magazine Reader's Poll. His album releases Moving Day, Event Horizon, and Songs From Isolation have received international acclaim from such publications as Downbeat Magazine, Jazz in Europe, The New York City Jazz Record, All About Jazz, and Jazz Life (Japan).

This concert is made possible (in part) by the Queens Council on the Arts with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
