Flushing Town Hall is excited to welcome audiences back for our first live indoor public concert since we closed the facility to the public in March 2020 – and we’re especially pleased that it will be for one of our most beloved events: the Queens Jazz Orchestra (this time in sextet formation). In order to ensure the safety of audiences, performers, and staff, and to make sure that we are able to handle the event effectively, only 42 tickets will be available (in honor of our 42nd anniversary).

We will NOT be using the newer relaxed CDC and NY State guidelines that allow vaccinated individuals to attend indoor events without masks or social distancing; instead, we will be adhering to the PRIOR guidelines that keep capacity below 33% and require audiences to continue to wear masks and practice social distancing.

If you are attending this event in person, please read this document carefully before arriving.
This program is also streamed live online, and you can purchase virtual tickets to receive the live link and get a reminder!

This concert will present the core rhythm section of the larger Queens Jazz Orchestra in a special program honoring NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Heath who passed away on January 19, 2020, at the age of 93. Jimmy Heath passed the baton to his protégé, Antonio Hart to conduct and lead the orchestra in his aftermath. The ensemble is comprised of six amazing musicians: Freddie Hendrix on trumpet, Steve Davis on trombone, Antonio Hart on saxophone, Jeb Patton on piano, David Wong on bass, and Vince Ector on drums. They will perform some music composed by Jimmy Heath as well as jazz standard arrangements. Moderated by FTH's Jazz Producer Clyde Bullard, a live Q&A will follow the performance with musicians answering questions from the audience.

The Queens Jazz Orchestra is a project of Flushing Town Hall.
