Flushing Town Hall is hosting an exhibition entitled Strange Birds curated by Nancy Gesimondo. Strange Birds features artwork by eight contemporary artists working in the genre of Magical Realism. Using both classical and modern techniques the images rendered in these paintings and bronze reliefs depict surreal narratives from derived from literature and embellished by the artist’s imagination. Birds and other animals appear in this collection of work as fantastical creatures acting as spectators and guides in a peculiar world where the rules of reality are upturned.
