Slavic Soul Party is NYC's #1 BalkanSoul GypsyFunk brass band. Their music blends fiery Balkan brass, irresistible beats, Roma accordion wizardry, and virtuoso jazz chops. With a focus on immigration, integration, and ingenuity, they infuse the sounds of New York life through a Balkan brass filter. Michael Ginsburg is the director and lead trumpet player of Zlatne Uste Balkan Brass Band; he has been interested in Balkan music and dances, especially Macedonian and Serbian, for many years. He is an expert in the complicated rhythms of Balkan music and has made several research trips to Bulgaria and the former Yugoslavia, and studied in North Macedonia with Pece Atanasovski. Michael has been on the teaching staff of the Macedonian Pearl seminar in Berovo, North Macedonia, and is a frequent staff member of the EEFC Balkan Music & Dance Workshops on both coasts. In addition to teaching at folk dance camps and seminars in North America, he has given workshops in Balkan dance in Brazil, Japan, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
