Music, Culture and the Pueblo Way

Robert Mirabal, acclaimed Taos Pueblo musician, flute maker, actor, craftsman, farmer and more, along with his band Rare Tribal Mob, will present an engaging program about the importance of culture, language (Robert’s first language is Tiwa), and identity as told through story, dance, movement and music.  Robert’s music and stories draw from his traditional upbringing on Taos Pueblo in New Mexico as well as his contemporary experiences as a citizen of the world.  As he often says, he walks in two, perhaps three, worlds - as do many of us.  Although he travels around the world performing, Robert still lives on Taos Pueblo and maintains a mostly traditional life participating in his Kiva*society’s and the Pueblo's ceremonies and celebrations, hunting, farming, moccasin-making, etc.   Robert brings his lifestyle and experience into every performance, through his singing, flute and tribal drum playing and stories.
