Week #1: Colombian Music with FTH Teaching Artist Martin Vejarano 

Flushing Town Hall Teaching Artist Martin Vejarano invites you to explore the rhythms of Colombia using simple homemade instruments. Using plastic buckets for drums, wooden spoons for drumsticks and a homemade shaker you will be able to explore four different rhythms from the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Colombia. These rhythms are as unique and diverse as Colombia's culture which mixes Indigenous, African and European heritage. Week #2: Chinese Dance with FTH Teaching Artist Ling Tang 

This week’s lessons introduce you to Chinese dance led by Flushing Town Hall Teaching Artist Ling Tang. Ling is a dancer, choreographer and a teacher.  You may have seen her perform on stage at Flushing Town Hall or teaching youngsters in our schools.  But we join her at her apartment in Queens as we practice safe distancing. Week #3: Pop-up Book Page Making with FTH Teaching Artists Spica Wobbe and Karen Oughtred

This week’s lessons introduce you to the pop-up book page making led by Flushing Town Hall Teaching Artists Spica Wobbe and Karen Oughtred. Spica is puppeteer and Karen is a theater artist.  You may have seen them at Flushing Town Hall’s partnering senior centers where they offer programming in The Memory Project, storytelling through visual arts, theater and puppetry.  But we join them at their apartments in Manhattan as we practice safe distancing. Week #4: Indian Dance with FTH Teaching Artist Abha Roy

This week’s lessons introduce you to Indian dance led by Flushing Town Hall Teaching Artist Abha Roy. Abha is a master dance teacher and choreographer, specializing in Kathak, a classic northern Indian dance form. You may have seen her teaching youngsters in our schools or performing on stage at Flushing Town Hall with her popular Diwali Dance Party. But we join her at her apartment in Queens as we practice safe distancing. Week #5: Mexican Dance with FTH Teaching Artist Alberto Lopez

This week’s lessons introduce you to Mexican dance led by Flushing Town Hall Teaching Artist Alberto Lopez. Alberto is a master dance teacher, choreographer, costume designer and artistic director of Calpulli Mexican Dance company. Pausing at home doesn’t stop him from dancing, especially his passion — Mexican dances! Week #6: African Drumming with FTH Teaching Artist Vado Diomande

This week’s lessons introduce you to the rhythms of Ivory Coast of West Africa, led by Flushing Town Hall Teaching Artists Vado Diomande and Lisa Diomande. Vado is a master drummer, dancer, teacher, and artistic director of Kotchegna Dance Company and Lisa is the managing director. You may have seen him on stage at Flushing Town Hall, but we will join him at his apartment in Harlem. This week’s lessons introduce you to dances from the United States, led by Flushing Town Hall Teaching Artist Angela Rostick. Angela joined Flushing Town Hall as a teaching artist in 2002 and she is an outstanding dancer, actress and zumba instructor. You may have seen her teaching youngsters at PS22Q, but we will join her at her apartment in Queens. This week’s lessons introduce you to Visual Signs of Gratitude with FTH Teaching Artist Suzanne DeMarco. Suzanne is an educator and visual artist.
